Training Weekend - Blair Atholl Day 3

Not so far today as we both needed to get home but we still managed just under 10 miles.  Amazing weather and 22 degrees so we were quite glad it was a bit shorter!  Another Walk Highlands route - Glen Tilt Circular and a lovely walk.  Slight confusion in a couple of places but we managed .

What about that for a perfect day and what a view!  All in all a great weekend - just over 40 miles in total.  We are starting to feel we can really do this now...!

Training Weekend - Blair Atholl Day 2

Felt surprisingly sprightly after a good night's sleep and headed to Dunkeld for our favourite walk of the weekend and another from Walk Highlands - Loch Ordie and Deuchary Hill.  Another misty start but a super day.  We climbed Deuchary Hill which is optional and the views were fantastic - quite a hard climb in places but so worth it!

It's just the thought of getting back down!  Took us rather longer than expected so no time for coffee and cake in Dunkeld - shame!

Training Weekend - Blair Atholl Day 1

We started the weekend with a circular walk from the Old Bridge of Tilt using a Walk Highlands route.  Misty when we set off but turned into a lovely day and a great walk.  Ended up doing about 16 miles as we decided not to go all the way up Beinn Dearg in case we ran out of daylight.  This is us at the half way point.

A good start to our weekend! Great to get back to our cottage at Tom of Lude Steading  - www.ludeestatecottages.co.uk - which was perfect for a lovely relaxing bath and dinner not to mention a glass of wine!

Training

Managed 30 miles last week and enjoyed unseasonably good weather with temperatures of 18 degrees on Friday, lovely!
Not sure if I have the right water bladder/bottle or whether I just need to get used to it.

Gail and Kerry are going to walk a 100 miles - the eastern section of the Southern Upland Way and try to raise at least £1000 for Macmillan.

This walk is in memory of our sisters Carol and Debs (on the left of this photo taken in 1969 in Wildenrath, Germany.

We would really appreciate your help and support in achieving our aim. This walk is a huge challenge for two old friends and we are doing it in the hope that we can raise a little to go towards helping others. We will set off on 12th May and hope to complete the walk in 6 days.

We hope to update this blog with details of our training and also en route (mobile signal willing).
